Resolved Question: Help! Have you ever lived in really cold weather?

Because I'm moving to Fairbanks, AK in three weeks, and I have no idea what I'll have to wear! The temperatures get down to -60 F apparently, although I think usually it's not so cold... Any suggestions? Particular materials? How many sweaters do I need to own? Can I wear jeans? All my clothes are fit for the California desert, so I think I need to do some serious shopping...
